Popokotea Class - Year 4

Welcome to Popokotea Class!

I hope you have all had a lovely half-term break and are feeling refreshed, rested and ready for our Tinsel and Turkey Term! We have lots of festive fun and exciting activities to look forward to over the coming weeks.

I am really looking forward to another wonderful term of learning, laughter and making special memories together, and I hope you are too!

We have lots of exciting learning ahead of us, as well as a very special trip to the Marlowe Theatre to watch Peter Pan! I know this will be a fantastic experience and a lovely opportunity to enjoy the magic of live theatre together.

There is so much to look forward to, and I can't wait to get started. Let's make Term 2 a happy, fun-filled and memorable one! 🎄✨

Important Information

The weather is wetter and colder, please ensure your child has a coat and that it is named.
Please also check all cardigans and jumpers are still named.
Please ensure your child brings a water bottle to school each day and book school dinners online in advance.

Our PE days are: Monday and Thursday

Please come to school dressed in your PE kit on these days with earrings removed or taped and hair tied back.

Ukuleles

Popokotea Class will be learning to play the ukuleles as a class on Monday mornings. Everything is provided for them to use in school.

Term 2 - Adventures Across the Americas

What can we discover about the Americas?

In the Adventures Across Americas project, your child will explore North and South America, learning about countries, climates and landscapes. They will compare mountain regions around the world, plan a journey across the continents, and record and share their discoveries in an explorer's log.

HOME LEARNING

Please ensure that you listen to your child read 5 times a week and that you are supporting them to login into Times Tables Rockstars and Ed Shed daily. Your child's login details can be found in their reading record. We will be monitoring this in class and changing reading books every Friday. If you finish reading your book before, then please re-read it for fluency. We will be sending home 2 reading books: 1 based on their reading level and 1 book of their choice.

If you require further support, please find someone in the Popokotea team.

Times Table Rock Stars

Children from Year 1 upwards will receive a username and passwords for Timetable Rock stars. This allows them to practise and prepare for the multiplication check at the end of Year 4.
