Giraffe Class - Year 5
Welcome to Giraffe Class!
It's my great pleasure to be teaching Year 5 this year and to be enabling children to reach their potential at school. We are a hard-working, committed class and we love to achieve all that is possible each day. See below for information about our week and also about our term's learning.

**Important Information**
- The weather is wetter and colder, so please ensure your child has a coat every day and that it is named.
- Please also check all cardigans and jumpers are still named.
- Please ensure your child brings a water bottle to school each day and book school dinners online in advance.
Our P.E days are: Monday and Thursday
Please come to school dressed in your P.E kit on these days with earrings removed or taped and hair tied back.

Term 2 - Investigating Our World
Geography focus
What makes our planet so unique?
This essential skills and knowledge project teaches children about locating map features using a range of methods. They learn about the Prime Meridian, Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), and worldwide time zones and study interconnected climate zones, vegetation belts and biomes. Children learn about human geography and capital cities worldwide before looking at the UK motorway network and settlements.

**HOME LEARNING**
Please ensure that you listen to your child read five times a week and that you are supporting them to login into Times Tables Rockstars and Ed Shed daily. Your child's login details can be found in their reading record. We will be sending home two reading books: One based on their reading level and one book of their choice.
If you require further support, please speak to Mrs Webb at the start or end of the day.
Times Table Rock Stars
Children from Year 1 upwards will receive a username and passwords for Timetable Rock stars. This allows them to practise and prepare for the multiplication check at the end of Year 4.
