Welcome to Popokotea Class!
Welcome Popokotea Class! We're now in Term 1! We hope that you all had an amazing summer and are ready for Year 3!
The weather is getting wetter and colder, please ensure your child has a raincoat and that it is named. Please also check all cardigans and jumpers are still named.
Our PE days are: Monday and Thursday
Please come to school dressed in your PE kit on these days with earrings removed or taped and hair tied back.
Term 1 - Traders and Raiders
What did the Vikings want?
This term we will be focusing on History, looking closely at Viking Britain and the Saxons. Big and strong, powerful and brave, the Saxons wave their battle axes and brandish their swords as they begin to invade Britain’s shores. Sail back to the Dark Ages, where battles were rife and fear reigned. Find out about the lives of the Saxons, including how they lived and where they came from. Meet the bloodthirsty Vikings from Scandinavia – never before had such terror swept the land. Choose to be a Saxon or Viking, but let’s keep it cool. We don’t want a fight breaking out. Are you ready to shine a light on the dangerous and deadly Dark Ages?
**HOME LEARNING**
Please ensure that you listen to your child read 5 times a week and that you are supporting them to login into Times Tables Rockstars and Ed Shed daily. We will be monitoring this in class and changing reading books every Friday. If you finish reading your book before, then please re-read it for fluency. We will be sending home 2 reading books: 1 based on their reading level and 1 book of their choice.

Times Table Rock Stars
Children from Year 1 upwards will receive a username and passwords for Timetable Rock stars. This allows them to practise and prepare for the multiplication check at the end of Year 4.
