To finish off our Firedamp and Davy lamps history project, we were lucky enough to be invited to the amazing Aylesham Heritage Centre in the village. The children were enthralled to hear the tales of what life was like inside Snowdown Colliery and how it affected the everyday lives of our community. We were able to hear stories from the wonderful ex-miners who took time out of their day to speak to the children with such wonderful knowledge and wisdom. The children also watched a film about the lives of pit ponies who worked and lived down the mines.
