Forest School
"Forest School is a child-centred inspirational learning process, that offers opportunities for holistic growth through regular sessions. It is a long-term program that supports play, exploration and supported risk taking. It develops confidence and self-esteem through learner inspired, hands-on experiences in a natural setting."
FSA Forest School Association
Statement of Intent
Our wonderful forest school provides children with challenging, exciting and different experiences to help them learn. Activities include bug hunting, den building, working with tools, exploring animal homes and habitats, the fire circle and outdoor cooking, tree, flora and fauna identification and so much more.
It is our intention to help children develop their self-esteem, grow in confidence, become more resilient and learn to collaborate with their peers. Through Forest School we will deliver social skills, language and communication skills, motivation and concentration, physical skills, knowledge and understanding and new perspectives. Giving children essential skills required for life.
What can you expect from Forest School with us?
We aim to build children’s, and/or adult’s, skills, abilities, and confidence session by session through practical hands-on activities in the outdoors in most weathers throughout the seasons. We offer them the chance to explore, learn and discover at their own pace in a safe and supportive space using natural resources to stimulate imagination, creativity, and investigation. Activities will include:
Woodwork using tools, e.g. making musical instruments, jewellery, decorative items, tools…
Natural art
Fire lighting and Cooking
Using knots and lashings
Shelter building
Bug hunts
Flora and Fauna hunts
We believe in developing the whole person. Each one of our experiences and each tool have dedicated risk-benefits assessments to ensure that through supported risk and having opportunities to learn how to manage risk for themselves, participants are enabled to develop skills for life.

Young Voices
The largest children’s choir concerts in the world!
Children taking part in YV have the opportunity to perform in some of the world’s greatest arenas alongside incredible artists. To achieve this with all their school friends around them for support, it helps their self-belief, self-motivation, confidence, and ability to communicate as part of a team - which is invaluable! Add to this the numerous health benefits of singing in rehearsals, including breathing exercises to focus the mind - it’s no wonder that Young Voices is over-subscribed year after year!
The concert is the culmination of a lot of hard work from your teachers and children.
We provide online resources so that children can practise at home to support the rehearsals they are doing in school. Our songs are selected from a wide range of music styles to give the children the widest learning experience possible.
We had the most wonderful time at Young Voices 2023!
Children from our choir in Years 3 - 6 were part of the 'the largest choir event in the world' with over 8,000 children performing with a live band at the O2. Special guests included Urban Strides - that use dance as a way to improve the fitness, well-being and cooperation skills of young people nationally and the incredible Beatbox Collective. There was even a message from Nile Rogers as we sang a medley of some of his greatest hits.
Anna Phoebe played the violin and her collaboration with the beatboxers made us all get up and dance. We sang with Heather Small from M-People - which made us all very 'Proud' to be part of such an amazing event.
"A memory about Primary School that will stay with me forever!" (Year 6 child)
" Wow wow wow, an experience that needs to be done again next year! Lots of fun with friends and meeting other children from other schools." (Year 5 parent)
"Absolutely incredible experience, there are no other words. What an amazing experience for the children. Thank you to all the staff for the hard work and dedication you gave. It will be a memory that they will never forget, as well as myself. " (Year 3 parent)
