We discussed what shade and shelters were and went on a hunt to spot different types and what they were used for. The children received a letter from 'Pets at home' asking them to design a suitable shelter for a pet. Using their scientific knowledge the children had to think carefully about the suitability for their design such as materials, being safe etc... 

The next step is for the children to make prototypes of their shelters and evaluate their effectiveness!
